CI Note Line fulfills latest BoE and new ACBI authenticity frameworks

12.09.2023
On June 14, 2018, our CI Note Line product family passed the current Bank of England (BoE) “Sterling Monetary Framework” and for the first time the in March 2018 issued ACBI framework.

The test was passed with the latest test decks including polymer (BoE only) and paper banknotes.

Scottish and Northern Ireland banks (S&NI Banks) formed the Association of Commercial Banknote Issuers (ACBI).
The S&NI Banks have decided to publish the new voluntary framework document for the testing of automatic banknote handling machines with Pound Sterling counterfeit notes and with genuine notes of varying fitness levels.

The successful check comprises the following two main criteria:

  • Recognition test with genuine banknotes (new and used notes)

The test deck contains new and used Pound Sterling banknotes of varying fitness levels. Unfit notes are not used.

  • Detection test with counterfeit banknotes

The counterfeit test pack comprises Pound Sterling counterfeit notes from each relevant denomination and class. The test provider decides, based on information supplied by the National Crime Agency, when to include a counterfeit note type according to a perceived threat level.

The test pack contains at least five notes of each of the counterfeit classes that make up 90% of the total number of counterfeits in the last 12 months. In addition, the test pack will contain composed notes that are more than 50% composed of counterfeit parts.

CI Note Line will be listed by end of June as “Successfully tested banknote handling machine” on the ACBI website at:

http://www.acbi.org.uk/machine_testing_framework.php

and at the BoE website at:
